Performance seen in the past (not performed now)

Blue Angels Diamond Turn
Diamond makes a horizontal turn after takeoff.
Photo taken at Stockton Airshow in 1998.
Blue Angels Solo Overhead
This performance (forgot the name) was seen instead of the Tuckaway Cross during the year 2000 show season.
Photo taken at MCAS Miramar airshow.
Has the Tuckaway cross been banned because of safety?
Blue Angels Pararell Break
Diamond formation fly toward the crowds before making a Parallel break.
Now they do not break while flying towards you.
Photo taken at 1999 MCAS Miramar Airshow.
Blue Angels Solo Pass
Two solo planes fly close to the spectators before making a landing.
Very rare performance I've seen only once, but it was really great.
Photo taken at 1998 Stockton Airshow.
Blue Angels Diamond Landing
Very impressive diamond Landing as seen at 1999 MCAS Miramar Airshow.
Plane in the rear touch down first, boss touch the ground last.

Rare shots and incidents

Fat Albert JATO
Only 2 of the 4 JATO rockets are lit on the port side.
A shot taken few seconds later shows all rockets firing normally.
Photo taken during 1998 MCAS Miramar Airshow.
Blue Angels No2 with trouble
Just before starting taxi, No.2 plane seems to have an alarm flashing in the cockpit.
Ground crews gather around to replace module, while the pilot opens canopy.
Note the pilot has his "hands up" to make sure he does not touch any switches.
The problem did not go away, and the show proceeded using No.7 two seater backup aircraft.
Blue Angels Diamond missing Slot
Blue Angels No.2 pilot was grounded during the 1999 NAS Lemoore Airshow (Later on the pilot left the team)
The formation seems nothing but "Triangle" or "Small Delta" but the narrator kept on saying it is "Blue Angels Diamond"!
Photo taken at 2000 MCAS Miramar Airshow.
Loose Diamond
An unidentified civilian aircraft entered the airshow airspace, so the Blue Angels temporally stopped its performance and passed high above with the very loose diamond formation.
Pararell Break missing slot
Photo taken during 1997 Salinas Airshow.
Missing one aircraft due to malfunction.
In fact this was the Blue Angels performance I ever saw in my life, and I did not notice this was irregular because the formation is symmetrical.
Blue Angels section high alpha pass
Year 2000 NAS Lemoore airshow: #7 flew in #4 position, #4 flew in #6 position and #6 did not fly (how complicated!)
Blue Angels Delta Flat Pass over Alcatraz
#6 aircraft (actually using #7 two seater) left the delta formation to take photos of this beautiful scene.
Photo taken during 1998 San Francisco Fleet Week practice day.
Blue Angels Delta Over San Francisco Bay missing No 6
This photo was taken few seconds after the photo above.
Formation is now making right turn, and you can see more clearly that the #6 position is absent.
Now, take a look at #5 aircraft (lowest plane in the photo).... There is no smoke coming out ! Did he run out?
