I have lived so far for myself. It is quite normal I believe but recently I think about the lives of great heros through out the history; Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, Ryoma Sakamoto... and many others, I feel like I had enough time for myself. Why not live the rest of my life for the others? There are number of ways to do so.
Some choose to dedicate their life for God. Some choose to dedicate their life for corporation! Some for their family. Some for their hobbies! When I look into my heart, I find my passion for world peace. It had been there since my early teens while I was a member for the pressure groups such as the Amnesty International & the Oxfam. I had a great concern for justice, human rights, saving lives of the third world countries. My dream was to represent international organisatios such as the UN and work at the high level as well as being able to work at the ground level to dig for water supply for villages and teach children basic skills to live and have hope for their future. My destination was somewhere in South America, Africa or in South East Asia.
Well, I was in my high teen then. Now I find myself in the region of South East Asia but doing totally different thing! My focus had been shifted for the past many years. Rather than learning how to survive in jungles, first aid or life saving technique, I got a degree in Accounting and became an auditor, a tax consultant and a corporate executive to manage company. Through my business experience, I have touched and influenced people's life for better, that made me realise that my purpose was to "help and teach others to succeed!"
Now I further realise that it was actually "help others" that is my prime concern. I remember while I was listening to John Lennon's song "Imagine" and knowing what is happening in many third world countries; it used to bring tears to my eyes. "Help others to live with basic human rights"
Somehow I feel that I have been put through my life to be prepared for something. I still do not know exactly what it is, but there must be something I am here on earth to do. I am not hungry for making money, not for power or recognitions. I do not mind these as the byproduct but they are not my main concern or drive. Making this world where there is no war & terror that all the people can live their life in peace. For this there is a great need for global effort, understanding and cooperation. My dream today is to put as much effort for this cause.
