<Traveling to western Japan>
When I was in Australia, My host family said " Have you ever been Hirosima? "
I had to say "NO" and I was ashamed a lot . So I decided to go westarn Japan before go abrord again.

<西日本への旅>
私がオーストラリアに居た頃、ホストファミリに「広島行った事ある？」ときかれ、「NO」とこたえなくてはならず、えらい恥かしい思いをしました。　そんなわけで、海外へ再出国する前に西日本へ行こうと思い立ったわけで・・・・

<Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture>

<比叡山延暦寺　Hieizan Enryakuji>
1200 years ago, buddism priest Saicho established this temple.
Now there are five major buddism sects in Japan. The founders of them learned Buddism at there.
So it called <the origin of Buddism in Japan>.

1200年前、最澄によってこの寺は開かれた。現在、日本には５つの主要な宗派があるが、その創始者達はここで仏教を学んだ。そのことから、日本仏教の源と呼ばれている。

<京都御所　Kyoto Gosho (Kyoto Imperial Palace)>
When Kyoto was capital of Japan, Emperor lived in it.
It is located in Kyoto Gyoen(Kyoto Imperial Park) and every one can go infront of gate. But aprication is nessesity to enter in it.
Although castles should make defensive preparations, Kyoto Gosho is nearly undefense.

京都が日本の首都だった頃、天子様が住んでおられた場所。京都御苑の中にあり、誰でも門の前まで行くことが出来るが、中に入るには申請が必要である。　城は防備されてしかるべきナのにもかかららず、京都御所はほとんど無防備である。




<金閣　Kinkaku>
Gold seet is putted on the surface of building.
It's beautiful isn't it?
Yoshimitu Ashikaga built it in 1397, but it was destroyed by fire in 1950.
After that Kinkaku was rebuilｔ in 1955.
Ihhi- I want to set fire to Kinkaku-

金箔が建物の表面に貼られていて美しいではありませんか。足利義満がこれを建てたのが1937年だが、1950年に焼失。その後1955年に再建された。

<銀閣 Ginkaku>
Ginkaku was made by Yoshimasa Ashikaga (grandchild of Yoshimitu Ashikaga).
Ginkaku means silver pavilion but it isn't silver color.
Acording to one opinion, Yoshimasa planed to put silver seet on the surface of building. but he couldn't prepere enough silver thus Ginkaku doesn't wear silver coat.

銀閣は足利義満の孫、足利義政が造営した。彼は銀箔をその表面に張ろうと企図したが、彼は充分な銀を得られなかった。かくして銀閣は銀箔をまとっていないのである。

<二条城　Nijyou castle>
In 1603, Ieyasu Tokugawa ordered to build this castle.
Nijyou castle was built for two purposes. One of them was to guard Imperial palace, on the other was as a lodging place while Shogun visitting in Kyoto.

1603年、徳川家康が京都御所の警護と将軍上洛中の宿泊所として造営を命じたのがこの二条城である。

<Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture>

<姫路城　Himeji castle>
Appiarence of this castle is expressed as a white egret.
Himeji castle is kept the best condition in Japan.
In 1993, it was added on world heritage.

その姿を白鷺と表現されることがある。
姫路城は最もよく維持された城郭で、１９９３年に世界遺産リストに登録された。

<Hiroshima, Hiroshima Prefecture>
Finally I got there. Hirosima city was my destination. It took me 6days to get there from my home.
Hiroshima and Nagasaki city have special mission to keep us awere how inportant peace is.

遂にここへたどり着いた。　広島市は私の目的地であり、出発地から６日の行程を必要とした。
広島と長崎は平和がどれほど大切か（なんて陳腐な言葉なんだ。でも本当にそう思うんだココへ行くと）を私達に記憶させ続けるという使命を帯びている。

<原爆ドーム　Dome of Atomic Bomb>
This building was blowed up vartically. So flame of building remeined.
People living in Hiroshima have made a great effort to keep this dome to remember how cruel atomic weapon is.
It is defferent impression between seeing on picture and real one.
Real dome made me scared a lot !!

この建物は垂直に吹き飛ばされた？？ため、建物の骨格が残った。広島に住む人々は、核兵器がいかに残忍かを記憶に残すため多大の努力をしてきた。
写真で見るのと実物を見るのとでは大違いで、実物は私を大いに恐怖させた！！

<平和記念公園　Peace Memorial Park>
Large number of people gather here to pray for victim's soul and make a peace declaration every August 6.
There are meny cenothaphs and meny thousands ORIGAMI CRANES to carm down dead men's soul. It made me scared more!!

大勢の人々が毎年８月６日にここに集まり、犠牲者の魂に祈り、平和宣言を行う。　そこはたくさんの慰霊塔と千羽鶴が死者の魂を慰めるために置かれている。 それらが私をもっと恐怖させた。


I stayed Hiroshima city only 3 hours. I couldn't stand to stay more.

<Matuyama Ehime prefecture>
After Hirosima city, I caught the ferry to Shikoku Island.

<道後温泉本館　Doougo Spa>
This building was the model of "Aburaya" which is in the movie "Spilit Away" and It is represanted in "Bocchan"(Japanese famous literature) .(Actualy I've never read Bocchan so I'm not sure.)
It cost 300 yen to take a bath.

この建物は千と千尋の神隠しの「油屋」のモデルであり、また夏目漱石の坊ちゃんにも描かれている。（ショーじきなところ読んだこと無いので不確か）
入浴料は３００円。

If you are generous and pay 630yen insted of 300yen , you may take a rest at here with Japanese cookie and green tea after bathing.
It is good atmosphere isn't it !? I enjoyed very much.

もしあなたが気前よく３００円の代わりに６３０円を支払うことができるなら、あなたは風呂のあとここで、煎餅とお茶を飲みつつ休憩を取ることが出来る。

<Saijyou , Ehime Prefecture>

<うちぬき　The Well called Uchinuki>
Saijyou city has meny wells called Uchinuki.
Almost houses standing at Saijyou don't have city-piped water because every house has the well which can supply enough.
The water from Uchinuki is one of 100 kind of good water in Japan.
So I tried to make boiled rice but I pour carry on rice. It was mistake.
I should have eaten the rice with pickles.

西条市にはうちぬきと呼ばれる井戸がたくさんあり、ほとんどの家が水道を持たずに井戸を持つという。うちぬきの水は名水１００選に指定されておるので、それでご飯を炊いてみたのだがボンカレーをかけたのは失敗だった。　お漬物で食すべきでした。

<Osaka , Osaka Prefecture>
Unfortunately at that time typoon 16th was coming..
So I had to escape from Shikoku Island quickly.
I went mad and ran. As a result it took only 1 day to arrive Osaka city.


<通天閣　Thuutenkaku>
I stayed Osaka 2days to wait typhoon passage.
I was in the area ,called Kamagasaki, south of this tower.
There are meny cheep acomodation (It cost arownd 1000 to 2000yen) and cheep pub.
Kamagaski is kind of slum so you should take care but I think that there is safer than Australia for Japanese.


大阪には台風の通過を待つべく２日間滞在。
私はこの塔の南にある「釜が崎」というエリアにいた。そこは千円から２千円での安宿と飲み屋がある。 釜が崎は一種のスラムなので気をつけるべきなのだが、私が思うに日本人にとってはオーストラリアよりも安全だ。
