ワラビー
　　Wallabies

　ホームページの名前にも使っているワラビーという動物、ご存知ですか？　簡単にいうと、カンガルーみたいで、体が小さい種類の動物です。
　写真は、キャンベラにあるTidbinbilla Nature Park にいる、Bush-tailed Rock Wallabyです。しっぽに特徴があり、とても珍しい種類です。野生で、いつも高い岩におり、また体もとても小さいので、私のズームのない小さなカメラでは撮る事が難しいので、双眼鏡をカメラのレンズに重ねて撮り、さらに拡大しており鮮明ではない写真で、すみません。
　オーストラリアには、カンガルー、ワラビーの他、カンガルーとワラビーの間くらいの大きさのワラルーなどがいて、とても大きいものをカンガルーということはできても、微妙な大きさのものがワラビーなのか、カンガルーまたはワラルーなのか見分けることはとても難しく、オーストラリア人でも、できないそうです。
　動物の分布図を見ると、キャンベラは、カンガルーとワラルーが多く、ワラビーはそれほど多くないみたいです。
　これはスタッフの方に教えていただいたので、ワラビーと自信を持ってお伝えできるのが、うれしいです。

　Do you know the animals called wallabies? In short, the animal look like small kangaroos.
　The picture shows a Bush-tailed Rock Wallaby in the Tidbinbilla Nature Park, Canberra. They are characterized by their bushy tails, and so rare. They are in the wild, lives in rocks and so small, and it was too hard to take pictues by my small camera. So I took pictures through binocular and enlarge it, so it's not clear, sorry.
　In Australia there are kangaroos, walabbies and wararoos etc.. You can guess the big ones are kangaroos. But if they aren't so big, you can't distingish wallabies from kangaroos and wararoos, Australians, either.
　The distribution map says there are so many kangaroos and wararoos in canberra, but not so much wallabies.
　The staff told me this is a wallaby, so I'm glad to be able to say that the picture is a wallaby　with a lot of confidence.
