Congratulations! You took the cake once again. Japan succeeded to get bluefin tunas again.
Does your Kyun love tunas? We still have opportunity to eat bluefin tunas instead of farmed tunas. Actually I prefer white-fleshed fish to lean fish. On the one hand, Japanese eating habits is highly valued in the world but on the other hand our traditional whaling is taking a bashing. Generally speaking, human doesn¡Çt care of other creatures before they became endangered species such as Japanese crested ibis. Our species will be threatened with extinction someday but who knows when. ¡ÈEverything will turn out for the best¡É or ¡ÈEverything will turn out for the last¡É

[Comment] :   Thanks. It came at the right time. So, I was just lucky. Our cat is a light eater, but she does eat all kinds of fish, including crab meat. I love tuna fish, too. Good thing our eating habits are generally healthy, although young people today eat a lot of junk food here in Japan, too. Mans greed knows no limits, causing the extinction of quite a few species. Humans will not be able to live should the other species become extinct. The human race will eventually face Mother Natures wrath if adequate measures are not taken. I do hope for the best, but under existing circumstances prospects are not very good... Thank your for coming.

Igi was a beautiful cat. She lived over a year longer than the vet had predicted. Her last few months must have been tough, but she endured that hard part. We have lost three cats so far, and they were all good cats for us-smart Kyon, gentle Chil, and this pretty Igi. Now we have Kyun running all around the house all the time. Thank you for your comment.

As for me, I have been working since January 4th, making exams and reports, so now I can sort of take it easy, working at my own pace. My students these days never seem to be interested in studying English hard. They just want to get their credits. Thats all. Therefore, there will be few students visiting this BBS. Ouch! I missed to hit the number 40000! I held HPS early year-end party in my house yesterday. I checked Mr.Mizushima¡Çs HP and your HP before the party and then noticed the number 40000 is just around the corner. We drank, ate and chatted for around four hours. After HPS members left my house, I washed dishes and went to bed. I slept in this morning and went to take English class without having breakfast. I had barely time to blush my teeth and wash my face. I came back home and opened my PC. Oh my god! It¡Çs too late! The early bird catches the worm, the lazy cat missed the number.

News of someones painful loss makes us sad but on the other hand we feel some relief that we fulfill our obligation as children. I¡Çve been to Bali Island several times and then I often saw funeral ceremonies there. According to their culture, when a person died, his/hers family started saving money for three or four years to hold a funeral ceremony, seems like festival, and then all villages member help them to make ornaments, prepare foods and drinks and play traditional music and dance to cerebrate the departed soul and his/hers family. The concept of death is different depend on the culture but following the generational order of dying is natural.

Another thing is my friend¡Çs husband who passed away a month ago. All of us were high-school classmates. His death was too early. When he goes, he doesn¡Çt leave everything neat and tidy. Thanks for your comment. It used to be said that teaching is a sacred profession, but it is no long so. Some teachers would do anything for their promotion. For example, they stay at a difficult school for a while, being promoted later and leaving a lot of unfinished work behind. People of leadership caliber should be leaders, but people who manipulate others to attain their goals should not be leaders. The actual situation, however, is to the contrary.
All human beings are mortal and just like travelers staying in this world for a while. We live at the sacrifice of the beautiful nature of this planet. Mother Nature will strike back hard in time. My comment has gotten a little somber. Sorry about that.

Second- or third- generation politicians are no good. As driving under the influence is a crime, so is working drunk as a politician. Congratulations! You won the first prize. According to your diary, you seem in bad condition. How¡Çs your heartburn? Do you have a good appetite? You also go to see a dentist recently. I¡Çm so sorry. In this season, autumn, we have many delicious seasonal foods. A few days ago, my friend brought me a Japanese pine mushroom! Actually, I haven¡Çt eaten it for a long time. Imported Matsutakes are popular now. Certainly, I could recognize the difference of smell and taste. My friend, my husband and I shared it with beer. I know the proverb, ¡ÆWhen shared, joy is doubled and sorrow halved¡Ç but one Matsutake couldn¡Çt be doubled. I hope this won¡Çt be my last time to eat homegrown one in my life.

Something got in between one of my teeth and the gum, causing an inflamation in the gum. I like matsutake, too,-especially its smell. Homegrown matsutake must be a lot better in taste and smell. How I wish I could eat it! Over a cold glass of beer, I mean. Eat, drink, and be merry, but dont drink too much. Take good care of your stomach so that you can enjoy eating and drinking a lot longer.

The just-ended Beijing Olympics were full of lies-computer graphics pictures of fireworks, the lip-synching, and fake ethnic groups at the timeof the opening ceremony. I doubt China values the Paralympic Games. They put the national interests first.

Isnt the summer heat getting you down? It became my monthly event writing here. What a lazy cat I am! My new topic is, my husband and I took early summer vacation and went to Indonesia from Jun 27th to July 5th. We met our old Indonesian friend after a long time. When we met her last, her daughters were elementary school students but they became mothers now. What¡Çs more, she changed her husband! We stayed her hometown and then we realized there were no alcoholic beverages in that area because most residences are Muslim included my friends and foreign tourists hardly visit there. No consumer no supplier. Everything was great there except this issue.

You seemed to have enjoyed your stay in Indonesia except that there were no alcoholic beverages. Religion talks in the rest of the world while it is not the case here in Japan. Religion is a matter of form just for ceremonical occasions in Japan. The first time I went abroad was when I was twenty. A lot of water under the water. The world has changed a lot.

I know this is belated greeting but let me say, Happy birthday! You are younger than me but you seem tired of your hectic work. My husband is looking forward the day of his retirement the end of next March. He decided to resign from his job three years earlier. Some my friends¡Ç husbands do or did the same because they want to enjoy their lives in good condition both physically and mentally. How stressful our lives are! I hope all these husbands never to be wet fallen leaves for their wives. Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

I have no idea what life is all about, but there is something inside me that tells me that human nature is good. So, I have the view that humans are born good. However, the way things and people are today, I am worried about the future of mankind. Today politicians and economists are highly valued, and education in the true sense of the word is forgotten. Education is getthing more political and mercenary. So much for my complaints. Never say die.(My saying this time.) Until you breathe your last.

Someone said that we are in the turning point of weather. Japan used to belong to warm latitudes but we will belong to subtropics in the near future. I agree with this opinion due to this crazy hot summer and continuous heating days. The turning point is not only weather but also our lives in Japan. No other leaders can resign their job because of burnout syndrome in the world. Burnout syndrome will become more popular after baby-boomer¡Çs retirement. Oh, I didn¡Çt intend to submit such a serious topic. I¡Çm just worrying about the result of my super crossword. Empty vessels make the most sound. By the way, which is the proper preposition for ¡Æturning point¡Ç at, in or on?

Today I have been to the Nasca exhibition in Kyoto. You know those gigantic drawings on the ground in Peru. Their civilization is quite interesting, but they had no writing system. Well, you are right. Japan is at a turning point both weather-wise and politics-wise. I wonder what will become of the Japanese? For survival, we should not be too egotistic. Do unto others as you would have others do unto you-this Golden Rule should apply. Otherwise we have no bright future, I am afraid. A bit too idealistic, huh?

Welcome back to the super Cross. We¡Çve been having irregular hot weather so it must be hard studying Korean from 9:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for 21 days. What¡Çs more, you had to work out lots of assignments. Unbelievable! But you completed! You got the crown of your labors. I¡Çve been busy at renovation, family reunion and community association¡Çs role in this summer but they don¡Çt seem as hard as you did. The proverb ¡ÆNo cross, no crown¡Ç is simple but true.

[Comment] :   Thanks for coming, Cats-Paw-san. I am using my wifes PC. If our second son were here with us, he could make me a new computer. Well, the Korean course had been a killer for me, but anyway I survived. However, the real battle has begun now because I need to have a decent command of Korean so that I can teach all right. It was hard, but as the saying goes, Easy come, easy go. The hardship was worth it, I believe.

I hope you will maintain your health during the summer season.
I had my laptop overhauled recently for free, because it is under guarantee for five years. But my husband bought new one so we have four computers in our house now. The latest ones price was reasonable indeed. Around 64,000 yen all included with 1G memory. I can hardly have summer vacation because of renovation and community associations work. Im dreaming travel to overseas.

Typhoon No4 is coming. According to weather news, it will be the biggest one that we¡Çve ever had in Japan. I realized the influence of global warming. Change the topic, when I talked to my foreign friends via internet, I had a surprise recently. What do you call a dot putting the end of English sentence, period or full stop? Actually I didn¡Çt know the word ¡Æfull stop¡Ç and neither my Japanese friends did. In my British teacher¡Çs opinion, period is American English and full stop is British English. Japanese English education follows American style. Let me know your opinion. Different places have different customs¡¥

Yeah, this typhoon seems quite big, and it is coming our way. Too bad. Well, I am familiar with both period and full stop. So many men, so many minds. Americans and Britons are very different although they both speak English.
I am using my wifes PC. Mine is now in the process of slow disintegration. Also I come here from time to time and delete those spams. I do the cleaning not only at home but also here. Thanks for coming and see you.

I am not familiar with the saying you quoted, but quessing what it means... Take things as they come, ( my saying this time) was the only way for me then. I kept removing those spams every day. It was a real nuisance, though.
Well, it is good to hear from you. Thanks for coming. Yours, R.T
