Friday, August 31, 2007 Cloudy and rained for a while in the morning.

There was a case of emergency at work. I had to do some extra work. We English teachers are now short-staffed. One of the bosses tried to make us do everything, to make up for the work, not knowing the whole picture. Should we follow that order, we would all collapse.

Thursday, Augugst 30, 2007 Overcast and thundered for a while.

There was a makeup to take care of. It was given in the school nurse's room. I invigilated. Made an English 1handout and did the printing. Went to the library and reserved a book. Also requested a new book. My wife's refresher course for nuurses is over. She says it was worth it.

Wednesday, August 29, 2007 Cloudy and hot.

There was an Entrance Committee meeting, which was followed by an extra staff conference. I decided to make an English Tworksheet. I could use the old one, but using the same old one seemed boring to me.

Tuesday, August 28, 2007 Cloudy and muggy.

Yesterday at Korea Town we had a farewell luncheon for our Korean language teacher, who is to go over to Korea to teach at a prep school for those who want to study in Japan. He is a Japanese teacher who loves Korea and can speak Korean. There were eight of us there. After that I had a Reading makeup to take care of. At work were full of teachers eager to work.

Monday, August 27, 2007 Overcast

Last week when I went to the nearby supermaket, I found that the stationery shop all our family would often go to had gone under. I really miss the shop. When I needed something I could not find easily, I would order it from the shop. Perhaps because of the new shopping area in front of the station and also because of the new all-100-yen shop, people must have stopped going there. Evertything is evanescent.

Sunday, August 26, 2007 <Buying a new PC>

Yesterday drove over to a Joshin shop and looked around for a good PC to buy. I am really at a loss what to do with my next and old PCs. My wife kind of forces me to make a decision right now, but I need some time to think. Most of the info I have saved so far in the olld PC will be lost. Anyway it is mostly junk now, though. Next time I use a new one, I think I will use the Yahoo briefcase wisely. Today I purchased a DELL computer online, according to what our second son says.

Saturday, August 25, 2007 Overcast

Early in the morning yesterday, fixed the front flat tire of my bicycle. There was a tiny hole. Yesterday there was a lecture on sexual harassment at work. Sexual harassment is very subjective. If somebody feels sexually harassed, then it is sexual harassment, so you really have to watch your language and behavior.

Friday, August 24, 2007 Fair

If you do nothing, nothing will happen. Even if you want to change something, nobody else can do it for you. You yourself have to do it. This is simple but very true. If you want to have a good relationship outside, then you must start at home. A man who cannot love his family or wife cannot be a leader of any group. Watching TEJYO WANGON, a KBS drama, I got this impression.

Thursday, August 23, 2007 Cloudy and thundered a lot this morning.

Went to the clinic and swallowed a gastric camera. The stomach was O.K. The polyps are the way they were last year. I hate to have this check-up but I have no choice. My bicycle has a flat tire. I will have to repair it. Can I ? If impossible, I will take it to the bicycle shop in the neigborhood.

Wednesday, August 22, 2007 Overcast and so hot.

Sent or handed in in person all the Korean language assignments yesterday. I really felt relieved. It was as if a great weight had been lifted from my shoulders. Today I will have to have my chest X-rayed. At first I thought I would go to the clinic direct from home but on second thought, because I have something to attend to for one of my homeroom kids, I will first report for work and then go there. My life this morning began with my daily routine in a relaxed manner. Yesterday I did the Super Cross, too. Back to normal. I am glad of all that. My wife's birthday was yesterday, but the usual confectionary was closed, so I will buy her a birthday cake today.

Tuesday, August 21, 2007 Overcast but hot as ever.

Finished writing the "Chunyan-jon" book report anyway. It was not much of a book report, but reading the story (70 pages or so) again, I began to write it, so it took time anyway. At last all the Korean assignments are done now. I will hand them in after taking a double-check on them. No more summer holidays, either, business as usual from today.

Monday, August 20, 2007 Coudy and so hot and humid.

Yesterday spent the whole day doing one of the Korean assignments-a Korean language teaching plan. Anyway I made one, which I will hand in to the teacher in person tomorrow. The day before yesterday finished translating a Korean passage about Bak Chonghee, one of the former Korean Presidents. Today I will have to read "Chunyan-jon", one of the well-known Korean pan-sori and write a book report. Then I can get back to normal, doing my main work.

Friday, August 17, 2007 Sunny and extremely hot.

Picked up my wife at the municipal hospital, where she attended a seminar for nurses. Then refueled my car, bought some cat food, and drove over to my parents' place. We ate there and got part of the Bon offerings as usual. My sister was away at work. My parents have aged-Dad 84 and Mom 78. I think I can still use this PC by checking the harddisk almost every time I start it. It takes time, though. I often use my wife's PC these days. Sooner or later I will have to buy a new one. The word processor of this old PC is partially broken.

Thursday, August 16, 2007 So hot and humid

A rather strong earthquake happened in the Kanto area early this morning. Concerned about our second son. Yesterday went to school. Checked the reports that had accumulated, sent 1st-term results to my homeroom students, dubbed the tape for the 2nd term, and did some cleaning. It was so hot on the fifth floor where I work. The Korean language course ended at long last the day before yesterday. Thank heavens! That had been a hell of a course. I thought I would die from fatigue. Still there are four assignments to hand in. This computer happened to work this morning, so here I am.

Sunday, August 5, 2007 Fair

This Homepage Builder happened to work today, so I am uploading this diary after an interval of a couple of weeks. This Korean language course I am attending now is just crazy. There are 28 participants in all, studying Korean from 9:00a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for 21 days. to get a Korean language teacher's license. I hope I will last until the 14th of this month. So hard and tiring. There are assignments to hand in, too.
