Saturday, August 31, 2013 Maybe cloudy.
I was at home almost all day, sleeping on and off during the day, except
when I went jogging early in the morning. Maybe, school stated this past
week and fatigue must have piled up.
Friday, August 30, 2013 Fair and windy, later thundering and cloudy again.
Woke up later than usual and went to the usual park for my daily slow
jog. At work worked a lot, teaching, checking reports, making some handouts,
helping some students, etc. Awfully busy. Did not take any hours off today
because of the tight schooling schedule! Teachers are kept busy with no
time to think, which is good for who?
Thursday, August 29, 2013 Fair and cloudy.
It got so muggy in th evening maybe because of Typhoon No.15. Been to
the Chinese class after going to work. At work worked fully until the moment
I left the workplace. I got a haircut, too.
Wednesday, August 28, 2013 Fair
At work the second period was Reading. Then I taught in a clumsy way
because it was for the first time in many days. However, I took enough
time for each activity. I had the students work in pairs, too, for new
words and phrases. I made an OCThandout as well. Also gave a C English
Tstudent a makeup. Not to change the subject, about Japan's economy will
there be a consumption tax hike in next April? This remindes of the late
Hashimoto's government's decision to raise the consumption tax, which resulted
in the long-lasting deflation. Will the same mistake repeated?
Tuesday, August 27, 2013 Fair
I just did the homework and attended today's Korean class. There were
12 of us present. One lady hogged the class. She always come to class well-prepared
and so enthusiastic. On the way home bought two portions of the usual pork
cutlet bento for my wife and me. I fell alseep earlier than usual without
doing my reading.
Monday, August 26, 2013 Rainy, cloudy, and then fine.
It has been cool, but it will not last. Summer is still here. Today is
the first day of the second term. Taught Communication English Tin the
second period. So much to teach that I had to explain in one-way trafiic.
I had no choice.
Sunday, August 25, 2013 Rainy
Been to the library to return a book. I have read around 40 books so
far this year. On the way back from the library went shopping. My wife
and I are into Welch's-100 % grape juice these days. School is starting
again tomorrow-the second term.
Saturday, August 24, 2013 Rainy, occasionally cloudy.
Things went as planned in the morning, but in the afternoon I napped
on and off, ending up without accomplishing much. Local downpours have
been reported in the western Japan.
Friday, August 23, 2013 Fair and cloudy.
Our little cat had an operation today. She now has a plastic collar around
her neck and looks uncomfortable. She had to be spayed because, while in
heat, she would not eat, and as a result she was in danger of intestine
trouble. At work made a Reading teaching plan, which took me more time
than I had expected.
Thursday, August 22, 2013 Fair
The day began with a humid morning, and it had been hot and humid for
the rest of the day. A hell of a summer day. At work had two meetings to
attend. They ended earlier than usual, so prepared for next Monday's class.
Then off to the 8th session of the 10-session Chinese course. Got so tired
at the end of the day, falling asleep right away.
Wednesday, August 21, 2013 Fair
The killer heat continues. The thermometer stood at 36.7 degrees Celsius
when I got to the English Interview Room, where I keep my stuff. Therefore,
I took refuge in the air-conditoned staff room on the second floor. Had
an OCTstudent over and helped her with her report. Made another handout.
I got a bit heavier, maybe a little over one kilo, so my body felt heavy
when I moved from one place to another. Need to lose weight. Bought a birthday
cake this morning for my wife. Today's her 59th birthday. Quite a few candles
on the cake. She blew them out, and we ate it. Grandma joined us, too.
Tuesday, August 20, 2013 Fair
Been to the 16th class of the 20-session Korean course. Went unprepared,
so I found one word unfamiliar-"to stare" in Korean. On the way
home bought two pork cutlet bento as usual-my wife's favoirte. I am at
her disposal. Business as usual tomorrow. I have gained some weight during
my 11 summer holidays. My stomach is sticking out a little now.
Monday, August 19, 2013 Fair
A bit hotter than yesterday-34.5 degrees Celsius in the living room.
The little cat needs to get on a drip at the vet's this evening. She is
not an animal but a vegetable. At birth she was abandoned by the roadside
and half dead when we happened to find her. It is about time to get back
in work mode.
Sunday, August 18, 2013 Fair
Today's high was about 34 degrees Celsius in the room. Watched "One
Piece" again on TV. In the morning cleaned the bedroom and put the
laundry away because it seemed to stay there. Fixed the slanting towel
rack. Last week I started cleaning the park voluntarily before my morning
jog. My wife's always watching TV. She does so far into the night, sleeping
a lot during the day with TV on. She likes anime like "One Piece."
She is the nocturnal type, so I often have trouble sleeping in this noisy
and light environment. I want peace at night.
Saturday, August 17, 2013 Fair
The heat was a little less terrible today than yesterday. However, hardly
bearable. Went to buy some cat food by bike with my wife toward the evening.
Finished reading a library book. My share of the bon offerings came today.
Friday, August 16, 2013 Fair
The thermometer indicates around 35 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
The humidity is around 60 percent. In no frame of mind for any activities.
I did my daily slow jog, though, first thing in the morning. Just watched
some TV. Read a little.
Thursday, August 15, 2013 Fair
Yesterday I was lazy, complaining about the hot and humid weather all
day and doing nothing in particular. Today I did this and that as planned.
In addition, been to the Chinese class as well. Also worked on the Super
Crossword. Extremely hard!
Tuesday, August 13, 2013 Fair
I had my stomach exmamined today by swallowing a gastric camera-one of
my annual events. Today the nurse who gave me an injection failed and it
hurt a lot, so a different one tried to do that on my other arm, this time
successfully. Thank Heavens! Later the doc explained the results to me
and my wife. Not bad. What a relief! We were on the way home. I was feeling
dizzy, though.
Monday, August 12, 2013 Fair
Stayed home except when I went slow-jogging in the morning. It was another
unimaginably hot day. I hear it was 41.0 degrees Celsius in Shimanto City,
Kochi Prefecture-record high. Is it climate change? We all belong to the
environment of this day and age, so we have no choice. Just grin and bear
it! No, bite the bullet!
Sunday, August 11, 2013 Fair
Yesterday was too hot to do anything, especially in the afternoon. It
was a bit over 36 degrees Celcius. In the morning I did some cleaning,
but that was it. Today I have been to my father's grave wth my mother and
my sister. After buying some offerings and eating lunch, I was on my way
home. In the afternoon had my son and his wife over. She is expecting.
five months pregnant.
Friday, August 9, 2013 Fair
Probably the hottest day this summer so far. 36 degrees Celsius when
I got into the English Interview Room. Had a Reading student over to take
her retest. Going to take an 11-day summer vacation starting tomorrow.
I did some cleaning at work. Made almost four teaching plans for the next
term. Sent a reminder to 17 students whose English I am teaching. They
still need to pass their reports.
Thursday, August 8, 2013 Fair
Incredibly hot and humid. This is no environment for humans-a hell of
a habitat. Been to the Chinese class. Need to review a lot to absorb whatever
I learned. At work Spent some time in the air-conditioned staff room working
on this and that. Then moved up to the fifth floor and typed what I thought
about. Ate supprer. There was a miswarning of a severe earthquake around
5:00 p.m., so the Loop Line stopped for some time. I did not feel the earth
move, so I thought the warning was strange when I got to the station.
Wednesday, August 7, 2013 Fair
Extremely hot and humid. Hardly slept last night, although the fan was
on all night. Because the little cat is in heat, we cannot use air-conditioning.
We have such a reason. At work the thermometer stood at 35 degrees Celcius.
Again it is the humidity that bugs me.
Tuesday, August 6, 2013 Cloudy, rainy, and then fair, still occasionally
rainy.
Busy morning. I am over 60 and can have a free stool test, so went to
the clinic with the stool test kit. Then dropped by the post office to
send a 2000-yen money order to a cirtain place. The fee was 120 yen. Then
off to the dentist because the crown on one of my teeth came off yesterday.
On the way home bought something for lunch and supper for the family. After
finishing two library books, returned them. Again on my way back got some
raw fish and beer for supper.
Monday, August 5, 2013 Cloudy
Yesterday did things at home almost as planned. A sense of fulfillment
at the end of the day. Today went to work. Had a student take her retest.
Finished making a set of Reading handouts. The place was like a sauna.
Did a little cleaning, too. Worked almost as planned. Satisfaction level
rather high.
Saturday, August 3, 2013 Fair
Last night I felt unwell, so went to bed early. The littler cat is now
in heat, meaowing around noisily. This morning she peed where she is not
supposed to. My wife must have been irritated, so when I poiinted out something
else was also peed on, she got mad, saying, " Am I to blame?"
First thing in the morning, this miff. Maybe lack of sleep because of the
cat. Frailty, thy name is men! After taking a nap, turned on my PC and
found the Super Crossword uploaded. Just finished it. The little cat has
been taken to the vet.
Friday, August 2, 2013 Fair
Cannot stand this humid weather. At work too hot and humid to think,
so went down to the air-conditioned staff room, where I thought about what
handout to make. Then back to the fifth floor, but productivity was too
low because of the heat and humidity. Couldn't accomplish what I had planned.
A call from a student and a visit from a Reading student.
Thursday, August 1, 2013 Cloudy
Another muggy day. Went to work, but on the way the trains were delayed
due to an accident, as is often the case with the JR. Got a tardy slip
at the station and handed it in. At work made a C English Thandout. Then
leaving the workplace, off to the Chinese language class. Back home viewed
PL's fireworks display from the bridge in the park in back of the condo
complex. That ended exactly at 8:45 p.m. The place must be a mess tomorrow
when morning comes. So many litterbugs. Do they have beauty in their eyes?
