　Six or seven students came over with their reports. A few phone calls from outside. Made one phone call to a graduating student, hopefully graduating. Helped a Communication English �Tstudent wit the reports and gave a makeup. Almost done with this school year's grades. On the way home again swung by the same shopping mall to buy something.

Thursday, January 30, 2014 Rainy

　At work filled in the school records as much as possible. A Reading student came with the reports, which I corrected on the spot. On the way home swung by a shopping mall for something. The place was so crowded. I have had a slight lower backache.I have no idea how I got it.

Wednesday, January 29, 2014 Fair and cloudy.

　Waiting for some students to come for their sign-up. However, none showed up. Just took care of two makeups, checked some reports, and prepared for the sign-up period. Had to make a few phone calls because there was returned mail again-the fourth envelope.

Tuesday, January 28, 2014 Fair and cloudy.

　My wife got up earlier than usual this morning. So I had to change my plan. I jogged for 30 minutes, took a shower, and headed for the sign language circle. On the way home did some shopping. Cat food happened to be 20 percent off, so bought a lot. Bought some side dishes for lunch, too. My hands were full, and the stuff was so heavy.

Monday, January 27, 2014 Cloudy

　Getting up early, went jogging in the square as usual. At work worked all the time until the fixed quitting time, 8:00 p.m. in my case. Took care of some makeups for the teacher who came down with the flu. Called some students because their mail was returned. So busy calling students and preparing for the sign-up assistance period. Of course there were some reports to check as well. Today the necessary stuff for the sign-up was given to each homeroom teacher.

Sunday, January 26, 2014 Rainy and cloudy.

　While jogging this morning, it began raining, so I came back home in the middle of the jog. Showering, just had fun online, taking a rest from time to time, except that I had a hard time with the so-called MSVCR 80.dll. My iTunes did not work because that DLL file was missing. I tried to fix it a few times in vain. Eventually, I had to uninstall 1) iTunes 2) Apple Software Update 3) Apple Mobile Device Support 4) Bonjour and 5) Apple Application Support. Considering that this trouble is found online as of today, there may have been something wrong on their side.

Saturday, January 25, 2014 Fair and cloudy.

　Stayed in bed (futon) until late, not taking out the garbage this morning, garbage pickup day. So I did today's jog around 9:00 a.m. Taking a shower, went to the library to return a book and check out two books. Spent the rest of the day in a lazy manner.

　Made a phone call to a homeroom student about a change in the schedule. Still busy preparing for the sign-up assitance, running around, up and down and all over at work. Also gave two students makeups.

　Worked overtime unpaid. The sign-up assistance information meeting was held, lasting for nearly two hours. I kept calling a homeroom student in vain. This year some reemployed colleagues are quiitting. I am going to miss them. It is natural for them to leave this workplace, which is so suffocating. I hear there is going to be a corporate high school in this prefecture next school year, which is a case of deregulation in the area of education. Now education is something share-holders invest in. Money makes the principal to go...

　Gave some students retests. Helped some students with their reports. Continued with my preparations for the sign-up assistance period. Complicated! Out of energy at the end of the day.

Tuesday, January 21, 2014 Fair, cloudy and a bit rainy.

　It got pretty cold at night. Finished reading 『（株)貧困大国アメリカ』. America is not what it used to be. In the 70s it was a good country, but now it is something totally different.-1% haves and 99 % have-nots. If TPP brings this kind of US system to Japan, no thank you! How inhuman it is!

Monday, January 20, 2014 Fair, cloudy and then rainy.

　Gave some students makeups. Mardked the exam papers, inputted the results, checked dozens of reports, and helped a couple of students with their reports. Began preparing for the sign-up assistance period. So much work to do in such a limited time. So very exhausted at the end of the day.

　Slow jogging as usual in the park. Steam-cleaned one of the plastic screen doors with my wife. Finished reading a library book entitled "Willpower Insticnt", which was quite interesting. Began using the new heater in my study, where I read books.

Saturday, January 18, 2014 Fair and then cloudy.

　Went slow-jogging in the park around 9:00 a.m. Ran around the ground 22 times or so for about 40 minutes. Then went to the English concverstaion school to chat for about two hours after showeing.
Relaxed in the afternoon, taking a long nap. Read a book in the evening.

　At work invigilated the C English �Texam. Checked some reports, marked the C English �Texam papers, inputted the results, and sent them to the students. Helped an OC�Tstudent with her reports.

　At work shipped to students leaflets for the sign-up procedure . Thought about how I should go about the sign-up assistance this year. Looks like I am going to be super busy. At home last night burned the midnight oil working on the Super Crossword. It was a mind-boggler!

Wednesday, Januarry 15, 2014 Fair and then cloudy.

　 On the way from work went shopping at Q's Mall. Bought a pair of insoles for jogging and some other stuff. The place was full. At work just double-checked the new reports for next school year's first term, checked around 10 reports, helped a couple of students with this and that, and made a phone call to a hormeroom student in vain.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014 Fair and then cloudy.

　Went to the sign language circle this morning. I took my sign language dictionary with me to study seriously. Buying some raw fish for lunch. Yesterday went to Kohnan etc. to buy cat food etc. by bike with my wife. On Sunday went to see our granddaughter at the hospital in Hyogo Prefecture. On the way home bought a new smartphone, which took me a lot of time. Came home tired.

　I had a comparatively light gait while jogging this morning. When my weight is a bit lighter than usual, I seem to feel that way. Returned a couple of books and checked out two at the library. The online paper I read today predictied there will be a great earthquake befroe April.

　Our first-born son's wife gave birth to a baby girl at 2:09 p.m. today. I became a grandfather for the first time in my life. At work invigilated the Reading exam, checked some reports, marked the exam papers, and inputted the results.

　Our first-born son's wife's baby is due tomorrow. She went to the hospital yesterday and is now under their care. At work attended two meetings. Next school year at least three of the reemployed teachers are quitting. I am going to miss them. The workplace is the way it is, probably they will be not sorry. I just want to teach English. That is all.

　No jogging today because of this cold rain. What a dismal day! The first workday of the year. Corrected over 30 reports. So very tired. Invigilated the OC�Texam .

　On second thought I decided not to attend the Chinese classes partly because of the unilateral work schedule change and also because of the possible busy work this term. I made a phone call to the office, explaining my situation.

　Tok a substitute day off today although it was the first workday of the year. Tomorrow is not a workday for me, so I am going to go to the sign language "circle", and in the evening to the Chinese class. This time I am going to miss the last two classes in March because of my work schedule. It is a shame.

　Jogged along the road this morning, too. Our second son has gone back to Tokyo after eating sukiyaki for lunch. The holidays are coming to an end. I have rested enough, I guess. Did the first Super Crossword today.

　Today's morning jog was along the road for 40 minutes. During the day read three different books little by little. My wife was watching NCIS all day. Returned five books at the library. I found that popular books are not necessarily interesting enough to me. Oftentimes the author's style is not crisp but draggy.

　Finished reading a book. Quite interesting. Our willpower is also a lmited resource, and self-control, not self-esteem, is a decisive factor in activities such as leanrning and education.

　Been to Mom's place. As usual took a box of herring roe to ther. Ate grilled slices of meat for lunch. On the way there, changed trains by mistake and took a local train. So got there a bit later than planned.

　Did my morning jog as usual in the park-part of my daily routine. Wrote back to those who I had not sent a New Year's card. There were seven of them this year. The first day of 2014 is almost over. What did I do today? I read a couple of books. That is about it.
