My 3-sentence Diary
ネット上で日記は、個人的にはthe last thing I want to doでした。

Tuesday, July 31, 2018 Fair

In the morning off to the family doc and the usual neck traction. The daytime high here is a little above 32 degrees Celsius today. The big cat scratched my left toe by accident. Ouch! It bled.

Monday, July 30, 2018 Fair

Today was a workday. There was a substitute class, but only a few came. They participated. Not bad. I used my wife's parasol today, too.

Sunday, July 29, 2018 Stormy, cloudy, and fair.

The temperature was below 30 degrees Celsius, so we switched off the air-conditioners for the first time in two weeks or so. Typhoon No. 12's storm was strong for a while in the wee hours. Today I put three of the reed screens back iin place, and cleaned the bedroom.

Saturday, july 28, 2018 Rainy

Typhoon No. 12 is going to hit my area around midnight. It is going to stay until moon tomorrow. I just the reed screens the way there are. They may fall but will not fly away. This typhoon takes an unprecedented course. This is a record course. This summer we had a record rainfall and a record heat wave. So far we have had three "record" things.

Friday, July 27, 2018 Fair

The heat is less intense todaythan yesterday. However, it IS hot!!! I used my wife's parasol on the way to and back from work. Bought a bag of bonito sticks for our little cat. At work corrected quite a few "reports" , marked the exam papers, and inputted the results. Worked in the staff room on the second floor. Had my chest X-rayed, too.

Thursday, July 26, 2018 Fair

The weather is a bit better toward the evening. I mean humans can live in it. The weather so far has been beyond human capability physically. Now I can do away with air-conditioning.

Wednesday, July 25, 2018 Fair

Could not help but shut myself up inside because the outside world is a living hell of severe heat. This crazy heat will last until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. This abnormal weather is happening in some parts of the whole world, causing forest fires, heat stroke, and floods. Looks like the end of the world...

Tuesday, July 24, 2018 Fair

The life-treatening heat wave is continuing. Tomorrow's weather will be no different. Today by bike I went to the hospital and the dentist. My neck and teeth are worsening. I will not live for ever, but I will do what I can do. That is it.

Monday, July 23, 2016 Fair

Another abnormally hot day. Spent most of the day inside except when I went slow-jogging early in the morning. The rooms are constantly air-conditioned. This is a weather crisis, so to speak.

Sunday, July 22, 2018 Fair

Severe heat continues. People are dying one after another because of heat stroke. You need to watch out for fatigue and changes in the environment. Received a midsummer gift from my friend.

Saturday, July 21, 2018 Fair

Went to the hospital for neck traction. No slow jogging because of this heat spell. Even at night it is dangerous to jog. When I get up early enough, I will do that.

Friday, July 20, 2018 Fair

The record heat wave never seems to subside. Went to the library to return a book and did some shopping. Back home, finished reading a novel. Air-conditioning is a must now, especially throughout the night.

Thursday, July 19, 2018 Fair

This extremely hot weather is going to last for another couple of weeks. Japan is now in a cauldron of heat. Today placed three more reed shelters over the windows.

Wednesday, July 18, 2018 Fair and abnormal heat!!!

A workday. I left home for work, but headed back home right wasy. I almost fainted in this intense heat. Not a soul was seen on the street. I used my bike, but even so, it was so hot and tiring day. I do not think I have ever experienced such a hot summer as this, and it is still mid-July. Anyway I went to work, invigilated, corrected some reports, and marked the exam papers. At first I worked on the fifth floor where there was no air-conditioning, but it was dangerlously hot, so I went down to the air-conditiioned staff room. I also inputted the results into the computer.

Tuesday, July 17, 2018 Fair

Another terribly hot and humid day. I jogged early in the morning for 30 minutes or so. At night walked to the library to give back two books. Even at night the temperature is 33.3 degrees Celsius.

Monday, July 16, 2018 Fair

Went jogging at night in this muggy weather. I almost got heat stroke. I was afraid I might not make it back home.

Sunday, July 15, 2018 Fair

This summer heat is just terrible. Spent a couple of hours reading in the air-conditioned library. Finished reading a book. The place was full of elderly people like me.

Saturday, July 14, 2018 Fair

Hot like crazy. Went to the nearest do-it-yourself store by biccycle in the evening to buy three reed screens. They will be delivered on Thursday. They were more expensive than I thought.

Friday, July 13, 2018 Cloudy

Another sultry day. This evening had to attend a community meeting. Then went 'slow-jogging' at night alone in the park. This morning I overslept myself.

Thursday, July 12, 2018 Cloudy

It was so humid or muggy that I felt languid all day. Nikaku, the well-known Osakan story-teller, used to say, "Atsu wa natsui." It is the humidity that gets me!

Wednesday, July 11, 2018 Fair

Went to work to correct reports. There were about 30 of them. Did the printing for the first class of the second term. The printers were new. The old ones were better. Did some shopping at two different places. Also dropped by the library.

Tuesday, July 10, 2018 Fair

So hot and humid. The end of the rainy season has been declared. The flood victims are having a hard time now, especially because the water supply is cut off. Tens of thousands of people are now without tap water.

Monday, July 9, 2018 Cloudy and a downpour.

This evening our second son's wife gave birth to a baby boy. He was due a week ago. His mother had an easy delivery. Both doing is well. I am that they are.

Sunday, July 8, 2018 Cloudy

The record downpours are over now although they caused heavy casualties in some parts of Japan. As it was not raining, I took a walk in the neightborhood for about an hour in the hot weather. When I walked up the stairs of the stations two at a time, I got out of breath and felt sick at the top. It was so hot, so I cooled down in the air-conditioned convenience store near by.

Saturday, July 7, 2018 Rainy

This record heavy rain left quite a few people dead or missing. And a while ago there was a rather big earthquake over in Chiba Prefecture. There is no safe place in this country disaster-wise.

Friday, July 6, 2018 Rainy

Again the school was closed today because of the heavy rain. The climate of Japan must have changed. We now live in an age of disasters-earthquakes, heavy rains, landslides, volcanic eruptions, and so on.

Thursday, July 5, 2018 Rainy

A heavy rain warning has been issued where I live. I was at home all day, watching this and that on TV. The Korean drama "Wispering in Your Ear" was over today. I liked this drama. I also watched an American TV series. Quite violent.

Wednesday, July 4, 2018 Cloudy and windy, occasionally rainy.

Although Typhoon swerved from my area, the weater is nasty. At work just taught one class-an extra class. There is one more the day after tomorrow. The English Interview Room seems to be used less than before. and the atmosphere there is dull, too.

Tuesday, July 3, 2018 Overcast

Another hot and humid day. Left the front door open during the day. Went to see the family doc and then off to the hospital for neck traction. Went jogging early in the morning to avoid getting heat stroke.

Monday, July 2, 2018 Fair and then cloudy.

Such a hot day today. Just going to work was tiring in this hot and humid weather. Taught in the first period. I need to teach two more times this week-extra classes because of the recent earthquake in the northern part of Osaka Prefecture.

Sunday, July 1, 2018 Fair

The temperature has risen above 30 degrees Celsius. The air cleaner in the living room gives out an alarm sound fromo time to time. I wonder if there is something wrong with it.
