Tuesday, August 31, 2010 Fair
Instead of taking a morning walk, finished reading the paperback and
returned it to the library. Took the first half-day off today and went
to the Korean classroom. After that went to work, finidng not many at work.
Checked a few reports. The last day of the summer vacation for our students.
Tomorrow school starts for them-back to normal.
Monday, August 30, 2010 Fair but hot and humid all day.
What a muggy day! The room temperature stayed high all day. Besides it
was so humid and uncomfortable. In the morning took a walk anyway and had
an English study session as usual. Tried to finish a paperback in vain.
I fell asleep in the middle of reading it. The book is due tomorrow, though.
Anyway read more than 100 pages. Did nothing else.
Sunday, August 29, 2010 Fair and hot.
Another stiflingly hot day. Our cat looks exhausted, too. I am concerned
about her condition. I finished reading a library book about English grammar.
In the evening took a walk with my wife and saw two Korean dramas. The
second term is about to begin. I think I have done a lot of work during
the summer vacation and I am well prepared. Maybe I have worked too much.
No vacation for me.
Saturday, August 28, 2010 Fair and hot.
Returned a library book. I was all day at home except when I went to
the city library. Although I tried to read at home, I found it hard to
concentrare in this hot and humid weather. Even our cat looked tired. Saw
the Chinese period drama "Daishinteikoku" for two hours or so
in the evening. Time flies while watching this. Now the room is air-conditioned
and I can read comfortably.
Friday, August 27, 2010 Fair
This morning I went to see my doctor and had my stomach examamined with
a gastrocamera-an annual event. I had a blood test, too. Therefore, I could
not take a walk this morning. I took a half day off and went to work late
in the afternoon. I had two things to do. The second term is about to begin,
and more and more teachers are beginning to show up at work.
Thursday, August 26, 2010 Fair
This morning watched a rerun of last night's baseball game between the
Tigers and the Carp. Last night I watched it up to the third or fourth
inning. The score was 3 to 8 the Carp's favor. The Carp hit two home runs
in just one inning. I did not want to see the game any more and went to
bed. Later I found that the Tigers won that game by 8 to 22. At work worked
my own way on my own. The room temperature was 36 dgrees at first and dropped
to 32 degrees in the evening.
Wednesday, August 25, 2010 Fair
Swiped my card and worked until 2:oo p.m. or so. From school went to
the prefectural education center on business. There was an information
meeting about the new curriculum between 3:30 p.m. and 5::00 pm. High school
English teachers are supposed to teach English primarily in English in
two years' time, but according to the lady in change today, this should
not be interpreted out of context. As soon as it was over, headed home.
Tuesday, August 24, 2010 Fair
Went to the Korean classroom although I was a bit tired and sleepy. After
that went to work. Just made the last page of the next OCTreport and read
a couple of books. The room temperatire today came down to 33 degrees Celsius.
Less hot than yesterday. On the way home listened to my iPod and practiced
speaking English and Korean. And a little Chinese pronunciation practice.
Monday, August 23, 2010 Fair and sweltering hot.
Walked half the usual distance this morning because it was too hot. The
room temperature was 37.0 degrees Celsius today at work. As soon as I got
to school, I went out to buy Aquarius. I just kept sweating . Just made
two pages of the next OCTreport, helped a student wtih her report for
a couple of hours, and had an English study session. Tried to finish up
two library books.
Sunday, August 22, 2010 Fair
As gifts for my wife's birhtday I bought an eletric toothbrush, an electrionic
dicitonary, and a new DS. I used quite a lot of money. It will be worth
because I know she will use them all fully. Toda's walk was with my wife
at night-just half the usual distance, though. Today listened to NPR on
the Internet for the first time in many days.
Saturday, August 21, 2010 Fair
Went to the English conversation school and spent two hours or so chatting
in English. Bought a birthday cake for my wife. Today is her birthday.
Our first-born son and I celebrated it this evening. Our second son sent
an email to his mother from Tokyo. Watched two foreign dramas on TV as
usual. We used air-conditioning all day as it was unthinkably hot and humid.
Friday, August 20, 2010 Fair and unbearably hot.
The temperature stayed 36.5 degrees Celsius until around six o'clock
in the evening. It was so hot my head swam. While I was writing in English,
I made a stupid mistake, too, shamefully enough. Eventually I ended up
doing less work than planned. Anyway I did not feel too well today. Due
to lack of sleep? Maybe it is the heat that gets me. Paid the Korean class
tuition for the next term.
Thursday, August 19, 2010 Fair and scorching hot.
When I got to work and entered the room, the thermometer stood at 36.5
degrees Celsius. Another scorching day. First, did the routine work as
usual for a a couple of hours in the air-contidioned teachers' room on
the second floor. Back to the room on the fifth floor where the air was
hot and stifling, read a few books and finished reading one of them.
Wednesday, August 18, 2010 Fair and extremely hot.
Today's high was 37 degrees Celsius. In order not to get heat stroke,
spent most of the day in the air-conditioned teachers' room. For the most
part worked as planned. Finished reading a library book, too. Also chatted
with some colleagues for a while. Hope tomorrow will be less hot, otherwise
I will be exhausted just by commuting to work in the sun around noon.
Tuesday, August 17, 2010 Fair
It has been unbearablby muggy all day today. Took the first half-day
off and went to the Korean language school for the first time in two weeks.
The mercury touched 36 degrees. Although I used the electric fan there,
it hardly cooled me off. In that heat and humidity, I worked as usual.
This is nothing but crazy. The fifth flloor was deserted by the time I
hit the road.
Monday, August 16, 2010 Fair
There was something with the paperwork for the parlking space for our
son's new car. I asked my wife to do the rest of the procedure because
I had to go to work. When I came back home, she kept complaiing about the
way I did the first procedure, so I said I would take care of all that
tomorrow. I kind of got angry becuse of the way she blamed me, so nagging.
This sometimes happens. Maybe I am too tired after the day's wrok in this
unbearable weather.
Sunday, August 15, 2010 Fair
Went to the Ward Office to get a certificate of our registered seal.
Then drove to the recycling center to dispose of my old bicycle, a musical
instrument, etc. Cost us only 850 yen.. Ate udon again for lunch. Resting
for a while at home, visited my mom. This must be the last time I ever
drive my car. We talked for a while and came back home. Worked on the Super
Crossword and watched two Korean dramas on TV.
Saturday, Augst 14, 2010 Cloudy
Our first-born son is going to buy a car. He and I testdroved a couple
of cars today. And I am going to give up my car. We ate lunch together
at the usual drive-in noodle shop. I returned two library books and also
checked out two books. My wife has been to an art exhibition at Okazaki,
Kyoto Prefecture. At night watched two dramas on TV-Korean and Chinese.
Friday, August 13, 2010 Cloudy
Woke up too late to walk this morning. Went to work to find not many
were at work today-probably because it is Bon period now. I just made another
page for the next Reading report. Finished up another Reading handout,
too. Almost done the paperback I am reading now. Although it is like a
cheapy love story, I almost choked up toward the end of the story.
Thursday, August 12, 2010 Rainy and then cloudy.
Typhoon No.4 did not hit where I live, so I took a walk this morning
as usual. At work worked my own way on my own. Logged on to the new work
related website using my new ID and password. Got a haircut at the usual
station barbershop. The paperback I am currently reading is going to end
up as a cheapy love story. Tonight I think I need to spend some time reading
some books.
Wednesday, August 11, 2010 Fair and windy
Decided not to walk the full distance as it was too hot this morning.
Checked out seven library books. Going to be busy reading them. At work
the two bosses were on vacation. When the cat's awag\y, the mice will play
may be true, but not our workplace. Even with the bosses away, we work
all right. Looks like I am making at least two sheets each day.
Tuesday, August 10, 2010 Cloudy
Another hot and humid day. The usual morning walk, the KBS Korean drama,
and so on. At work, too, the usual routine, making a handout and a new
report. Toward the evning called back two homeroom students and talked
about their future courses. There happened to be somebody in the Career
Guidance Room, so I went in there for help. It was quite humid in the English
Interview Room today.
Monday, August 9, 2010 Fair, occasionally cloudy and rainy.
Ran out of water while walking this morning. A narrow shave. It is dangerous
to dehydrate in this hot and humid weather. These days on my way to and
from school I practice Chinese pronunciation. I will do this at least for
a year. It is just like growing a plant. At work worked my own way but
could not accomplish very much. Had an English study session with my Korean
friend.
Sunday, August 8, 2010 Cloudy
Read a novel in English slowly all day in this hot weather. Took care
of the leaky toilet water tank and removed the locks of the old bike which
is going to be disposed of. Took a walk with my wife in the evening and
then watched two KNTV Korean dramas. Our first-born son was at home all
day, too, writing his report about his one-month training.
Saturday, August 7, 2010 Fair
Went to the English conversation school and found some people waiting
in front of the building. Our instructor was late. Called and as it turned
out, he got involved in a traffic accident. Good thing he was not injured
and that he was not to blame. Resevered over ten library books and some
of them are now ready for me to borrow. Began to view a Chinese historical
drama. Took a walk with my wife this eveing and perspired a lot.
Friday, August 6, 2010 Fair, cloudy and then a shower.
While walking in the morning, came across a dead cat. Must have been
hit by a car. Left my cellphone at home when I left the house. On my way
home, I forgot my umbrella and caught in a shower. Today was not my day.
When I got back home at the end of the day, I was exhausted and did not
feel like doing anything. I went to bed right away.
Thursday, August 5, 2010 Fair
Walkedthe full distance this morning for the first time in 10 days. At
work felt so sleepy in the afternoon. Dropped off while sitting in the
chair. Tried in vain to work as I planned because I was a little too tired
to work OK. The room temperature was between 34.0 and 35.0 degrees Celcius
during the day. It was hard to concentrate in this hot weather. I had to
be careful not to dehydrate, too.
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 Fair
Walked three fourths of the usual distance this morning because of the
intense heat. It was a bit too late. Our cat bit my left foot while playing.
She bites a lot-lgihtly, though. At work worked my own way on my own. The
room temperature was higher than yesterday even in the evening. I almost
finished cleaning the English Interview Room. Now preparing for the next
term little by little.
Tuesday, August 3, Cloudy, occasionally sunny.
This morning I woke up too late to take a walk. I slept well. I do not
want to be a compulsive walker. At work I disposed of unnecessary handouts.
It took me a couple of hours. Therefore, I could not do some of my routine
work. Listening to some classical music on the radio, I enjoyed working
my own way on my own. The room temperature was 35,5 degrees Celsius today
when I got there.
Monday, August 2, 2010 Fair and hot.
Began to walk a little past six this morning. By the time I got back
home, it got really hot. Read Sophie's World because I was having an English
study session with my Korean friend this evening. Watched the Korean drama
as uaual, ate an early lunch, and left home for work. At work tried to
work accoring to the plan I had made. The fifth floor was so hot. It was
35 degrees Celius where I was.
Sunday, August 1, 2010 Fair
Returned three library books and got an extension on one. Got three cans
of shaving foam to send to our second son in Tokyo. Another scorching day.
Just walking back from the supermarket tired me. At night took a walk with
my wife, sometimes talking at PL's fireworks display. Then watched two
serial Korean dramas-"Chejunguon" and "Ton'i." Our
first-born son's golf back was sent back from Ibaraki Prefecture, where
his company's training institute is located.
