Took my mother-in-law to the hospital and then I went to the dentist.
I still have a pain in the right lower gum. At work I checked about 30
reports, invigilated the Reading exam, marked the OCTand Reading exam
papers, putting them into envelopes later, amd helped a couple of students
with their reports. I am still in the process of making preparations for
the sign-up assistance period in mid-February little by little.

In the wee hours of January 27, I began to have a terrible toothache.
For the past few days, I have had that, and it has not subsided. Yesterday
my PC went crazy. At work I have been super busy these days. Misfortunes
never happen singly. How true! Yesterday my wife and I bought a new PC
at Joshin. At work finished preparing the papers for a total of 20 students
or so with no credit gained this school year, including what we call 'absentee'
or 'stagnant' students. Exhausted. Parking duty was freezing.

This morning I had to take my son to his doctor and my wife to the hospital.
My wife is not sick. She needed to do some procedure for her mother. My
son was sick, but he seems OK now. Attended the Korean language class this
afternoon. Our instructor looked tired. She must be overworking herself.
Then hurried to work. Had two Reading students until 8:45 p.m. I helped
them with their reports. The English Interview Room computers got connected
to the LAN today. Well, another hectic day.
Monday, January 24, 2011 Cloudy
Took my mother-in-law to the hospital, using a wheelchair. Four students
came over for help. Printed the exam papers and put them away in the cabinets.
Also sent some of my homeroom graduating students a letter. So very hectic.
What a day!
Sunday, January 23, 2011 Cloudy
Took a morning walk, but it was extremely cold out there. I thought I
would quit halfway. However, managed to walk all the way anyway. Did not
feel like doing anything else, for it was a holiday today. I wanted to
realx. Just listened to or watched as many Podcast programs as I could.
As for the rest just watch dramas on TV as usual.
Saturday, January 22, 2011 Cloudy
On Monday we will have to use a wheelchair. My mother-in-law cannot walk
on her own now. This morning I looked for a place which can rent us a wheelchair.
My wife had to take care of her mother. I watched four dramas for about
four straight hours at night.
Friday, January 21, 2011 Cloudy
Another busy day. The last schooling day. Two classes to take care of.
One kid insisting on having attended more classes, which seems a misunderstanding.
Even after school, some students came, asking for help with their reports.
Checked about 30 reports today. No time to do anything else. Have to print
the tests on Monday. Got to be in a hurry. So many things to do.
Thursday, January 20, 2011 Cloudy
There was an information meeting about the coming sign-up assistance
period. The procedure is quite complicated and subject to change every
year. I adjust the checklist for this coming one. So many preparations
to make before that period. I will do that little by little.
Wednesday, January 19, 2011 Cloudy
My wife is busy taking care of her sick mother besides packing the lunches
for my son and me. When I got back home from work, she was so tired she
was already in bed. At work I had dozens of reports to check after taking
care of three classes in a row.
Tuesday, January 18, 2011 Cloudy
Took my mother-in-law to the hospital. Could not go to the sign lamnguage
club.. Went to the Korean language school in the afternoon. My wife's mother
fell down and had to be taken to the hospital again in the evening.

A Korean study session in the morning. This study meeting is going to
come to an end next week. I have done it for four years or so, I guess.
One of the three members is going to retire this spring. Another has a
reason for not being to attend it for the time being.
Sunday, January 16, 2011 Cloudy
So cold all day. Had an Eng;lish study session for a while. JUst spent
some time shooting the breeze with the female part-time teacher in the
English Interview Room. Wrote the students' names and birthdates on the
forms in preparation for the diplomas. Just copied what was written in
School Record T as it was. Had a haircut on the way home. My hair has
gotten so sparse.-especially my bangs these days.
Saturday, January 15, 2011 Cloudy
The English conversation school in the morning. For the reat of the day
just relaxed, working on the Super Crossword, watching TV, and so on. Took
a long afternoon nap, too. I could not take a walk today. It is a shame.
Friday, January 14, 2011 Sunny
Did the morning routine as usual at home. At work talught two English
Tclasses with OK student participation. Corrected some reprots. All this
took quite a lot of time. Things are beginning to be restless at work.
Februrayy to March are the busiest time of the year here.
Thursday, January 13, 2011 Cloudy
Took a morning walk as usual, doing all the morning routine. Back to
normal. At work after the Student Council teachers' get-together there
was a regular staff meeting. I was the clerk today all of a sudden. The
vice principal said that our school would be downsized personnelwise for
sure although the size of the school would remain the same, which means
more and harder work per capita. After that prepared all the remaining
handouts for the last classes. Did some bookkeeping for the student council,
too.
Wednesday, Janaury 12, 2011 Cloudy
Took a walk for the first time in a week this morning. Leaving home for
work a little late, barely made it to school. These days I keep forgetting
simple English words. Becasue of aging again? At work so many reports to
check. Took me around three hours. Today's joing homeroom was a talk about
sexual harassment by a lecturer from outside of the school.
Tuesday, January 11, 2011 Cloudy
Gave my wife's mother a ride to the hospital this morning. Therefore,
unable to go to the sign language club. Went to the Korean language school
this afternoon. Made some simple mistakes while talking in Korean. On the
way back dropped in at the library and checked out some books and CDs.
Bought something to eat for supper at the supermarket.
Monday, January 10, 2011 Cloudy
Coming-of-Age Day. Took my mother-in-law to the hospital with my wife.
Otherwise took it easy at home today, watching TV and YouTube. Lectures
by Professor Sandel can be viewed via YouTube. On NHK saw a documentary
of a Japanese young man helping street children in Bangladsh. Impressed.
Sunday, January 9, 2011 Cloudy
Worked my own way on my own at work. Had an English study session with
my Korean friend, sometimes speaking in Korean. Sent another Korean friend
mail saying I would attend her wedding this spring. Listend to the radio
for some time, the Korean program, the news, and so on. Back home watched
the usual Asian dramas.
Saturday, January 8, 2011 Cloudy
Again took my wife's mother to the hospital. My wife was coming down
with a cold this morning and was not be able to pack his son's lunch. Today
I saw a lot of TV-the U.S. situation after 911, our prime minister talking
on Internet TV, some Internet lectures on political philosophy, and the
usual dramas.
Friday, January 7, 2011 Cloudy
In the morning drove my mother-in-law to the hospital. Coming back home,
watched the morning Korean drama on KBS, ate lunch and left for work. At
work, kind of took it easy today. The other male English teacher brought
a clock to replace the old one I had brought a long time ago. This one,
sounded too noisy, ticktacking above his head. It was true.
Thursday, January 6, 2011 Cloudy
This morning I had to drive my mother-in-law to the hospital, but the
engine of the car did not start. The battery seemed to be dead, so my wife
called a taxi. Later I called our car dealer asked for the boss there,
who was in conference then. Anyway when I came home from work, I came across
him in the parking lot. The car was back and according to him, the interior
lamp was left on. That was why it happened. I don't remember turing it
on, though.
Wednesday, January 5, 2011 Cloudy
Took a morning walk for the first time in three weeks. Hard at work making
two final exams. Almost done. At the end of the day wiped out, and on my
way home felt tipsy and dizzy, although I was not drunk.
Tuesday, January 4, 2011 Cloudy
The first workday of the year, but nothing specila, just a continuation
of what I was doing on the last workday of last year. My cough has subsided
somewhat, but I had a lower backache today. Due to aging again? Well, I
have not taken any walk in the morning for such a long time because of
my poor condition. That might be why.
Monday, January 3, 2011 Cloudy
My wife went to Nijo Castle in Kyoto with her sister, and I stayed at
home, taking it easy and watching TV with our cat on my lap. I did not
feel like doing anything today. I have not made any New Year's resolutions
this year.
Sunday, January 2, 2011 Fair, occasionally cloudy.
Took my mother-in-law to the municipal holiday dentist. It was about
20 minutes' drive there-right by the ancient tumulus. Coming back home,
ate zenzai, with our second son still in futon but about to keave home
for Tokyo. The car, our first-born son's car, parked outside for our afternoon
shopping. Watched all the 11 episodes of "Jin, 仁", a Japanese
drama, on TV.
Saturday, January 1, 2011 Cloudy
Been to Mom's place. Our first-born son drove us there. All the family
went to see my mother and my sister. Mom cooked New Year's dishes, and
they were so good our two sons ate them so quickly. Talked a lot with my
sister about Chinese. Her pronunciation was good while mine so terrible.
On the way home dropped by my wife's mother's place. I found the lost lottery
tickets in the bulky trash. Probably our son discarded them there by mistake.
Much ado about nothing.
