The first-born kept coughing last night. He may have caught swine flu. He will not listen to his mother. Maybe work is too busy. As it turned out, he tested negative for swine flu, but he is taking Tamiful just in case. He is now running a fever. I have a sore throat, too. I may show the same symptoms later. At work made another handout after having the usual Korean study meeting. Read a little of two different books.

Lower House election day. Went to the polls to vote. The Supreme Court judges were judged as well. However, no Supreme Court judges have resigned as a result of this judgement. Whoever comes into power, this nation will not change because of the immaturity of the local communities across the country. Or rather even the immature communities have collapsed due to such things as the burst of the bubble economy and the so-called globalization.

Went to see the doctor for the result of the blood test last week. He said there was no problem. Saw all the remaining four episodes of the Koran drama Hongilton. Took me several years.Watched two TV Korean dramas at night. The tooth seems to still ache a bit, especially the gum around it. I kind fear tooth loss-my first experience. I realize aging is inevitable.

Friday, August 28, 2009 Cloudy

Went to the dentist. The gum was less swollen, but still the edgy side of the teeth rubs the tongue. It hurts. The dentist left part of the edgy part as it was. I did not notice it then. Too bad. Got employment-transcripts ready for two homeroom students. Took some time. Prepared another English Thandout for the next term. Studied a little Korean on my own. Read Crichton's State of Fear. About 50 to 60 pages to go.

Thursday, August 27, 2009 Cloudy

There was an extra teachers' meeting. A Reading student came over. I helped him with his 'reports' for about three hours. Talked about the fire drill in the second term with my partner and decided how to divide up the work between us. The tooth has gotten better, but not quite OK. I am going to see the dentist again tomorrow morning. Am I losing the tooth? That is possible.

Wednesday, August 26, 2009 Cloudy

Age will tell. One of my lower right back teeth is bad. I may have to have it taken out. Right now I have no artifical tooth. On Friday the dentist will tell me what to do. I hope the medicine will work. Studied English and Korean together with a friend. Printed three handouts for the next term. Cleaned the room. Took out the litter. Put the comfortable chair back in place. Did some readin, too.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009 Fair

Went to the Korean language school. After that, I began to have a toothache all of a sudden. Yesterday I had a stiff neck. Is it due to that? Or is it because the tooth is really decayed? I am not sure. Anyway I will go see the dentist first thing in the morning tomorrow. Too bad! I cannot do anything when I have a toothache. This morning I had my kitten scratch my leg. It hurt and bled a bit. She was running around-the Neko bus again.

Monday, August 24, 2009 Fair

Had a Korean study meeting in the morning. My mind was kind of malfunctioning then. I made some silly mistakes. I checked five 'reports' today. Then An OCTstudent came for her retest. Tried to prepare three handouts but not done yet. Maybe tomorrow. Read a little. The late Michael Crichton's State of Fear is one of the books I am presently reading. Very fun.

Sunday, August 23, 2009 Cloudy

Returned the two library books I borrowed over a week ago. Checked out another two. Spent most of the day reading and listening to my iPod. Got some exercise by riding the Aero Bike at home, watching a Korean drama. Perspired a little. The weather has gotten less hot. The thermometer at home stands at 29 ℃ now. Looks like fall will come earlier than usual.

Saturday, August 22, 2009 Cloudy

Our kitten is so naughty. She sometimes become a so-called 'cat bus,' hitting and dropping things from the table and the desk. Finished reading one library book on the history of the English langugage. Good to get an overview. At night read another book a little and watched a Korean serial drama for an hour or so, eating some melon.

Friday, August 21, 2009 Fair

Going without food, went to the doctor for a gastrocamera checkup and also had a blood test-my annual checkup. The doctor said my head will not bend backward. I explained that it because of my neck operation five years ago. I am usually in a state of fear when I go to a hospital or a doctor. But most people die in hospitals. By then maybe too old to feel of that sort hopefully.

Thursday, August 20, 2009 Fair

Made two handouts at work. Tomorrow I am going to have my stomach examined, so after 9:00p.m. no eating or drinking except for water. Swine flu is beginning to rage. Once school begins in September, it will spread rapidly. These days the atmosphere of the whole world is dismal. I am under the impression that the majority of people live in desperation as H.D. Thoreau put it in one of his books. Was it Walden?

Wednesday, August 19, 2009 Fair

This morning got up at the usual time, did the radio exercises , and took a brisk walk for half an hour. Then watched a couple of serial Korean dramas. Today I am thinking of doing the following things-to prepare two worksheets for the next term, read three different books, etc. Before leaving for work, I will read two books, take a shower, watch another Korean serial drama, and have an early lunch. On the way to and from work, I will listen to iPod.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009 Overcast

Last night I had my right forefinger scratched by the kitten. It hurt a lot and bled. I did not care about it because she is still a baby cat, but while I was looking for something to disinfect the wound with, I was at a loss where it was. As a result, I just wrapped a bandage around it and went to bed. Too bad.
Today I went to an pharmacy and asked for Makiron. Went to the Korean class and then to work.

Monday, August 17, 2009 Fair

Back to work from my short summer holidays. Yesterday's Super Crossword was really something-mindboggler. Before leaving for work, I usually listen to the radio Korean program, watch the serial Korean drama, take a walk if possible, take a shower, eat breakfast and an early lunch, read the news online or in the newspaper, take a short rest, read a book, and so on.

Sunday, August 16, 2009 Fair

Worked on the Super Crossword almost all night, not being able to finish it. Waking up this morning, resumed it and sent my answers before noon. But they were wrong. Sent again and finally made it. This must have been the most difficult one so far. Took me a whole day to solve it. While working on it, I forgot about everything else. I got a sfiff neck, though.

Saturday, August 15, 2009 Fair

It was less hot last night. Could do without air-conditioning while asleep for the first time in many days. Went over to Mom's place. Dad's first Bon memorial service is over, and the offeringns are divided among the offerers. On the way back , dropped by the gas station and the pet food shop. My Refresh Holidays are over today.

Firiday, August 14, 2009 Fair

Having been at home away from work for a week or so, I have gained a lot of weight. Work at home is mostly done at my desk. Hence lack of exercise. In a couple of days I wiill be back to work. I hope I will get back to my normal weight. The day before yesterday Yamashiro Shingo, who played Kazekozo when I was a little boy, died at 70. A while ago Ohara Reiko, who I never expected to die so soon, died at 62. Familiar celebrities die one after another.

Thursday, August 13, 2009 Fair and cloudy.

The weather is as hot and humid as ever. Just unbearable. Tried to make an OC1 assignment for the third term. There was a call from a homeroom student asking for a school report. I will make one next Monday. Saw Hongiruton, a Korean drama, on DVD. Read a book on English. In this hot weather, it is difficult to concentrate, though, besides aging. While taking a walk at night, I was caught in a shower, so I turned back home halfway.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 Fair but hot and humid.

Worked almost all day making the third-term report and handouts. At long last, this time really, I am all done. I have made a total of 72 pages since late last July. Now I can take it easy for a while or do my own things, not work-related stuff. What shall I do? I have a lot to do or just do nothing? It is all up to me. From the 17th I will have to report to work again, but now that I have done the work I planned to, it is a relief.

Tuesday, August 11, 2009 Cloudy and too humid.

Today I rested for the most part execept that I made anothe page of the third-term Reading report and a handout for Reading. Went to the nearby convenience store to get the two Korean books I had ordered online. I have some i-Pod programs left for today. It was a mistake to think that doing the rest of the report would be a breeze because I had used that part before. I need to do it again. I am not happy with the contents of the old one.

Monday, August 10, 2009 Rainy and then cloudy. Quite humid.

Worked almost all day making Reading handouts and reports for the third term. Now it is all over. Thank Heaven. It took me three full days to finish all that-24 pages in all. Last month I went to the ophtalmologist, which led to the checkup on my brains. I had my brain waves checked last Saturday. Today I went to see the doctor, who said nothing is wrong with my brain. I am afraid it is not true. Actually, I am not so smart.

Sunday, August 9, 2009 Rainy

Spend almost all dat making Reading handouts and reports for the third term except when I went out to return the library book and do some shopping at the usual supermarket. Also I bought some double-sided adhesive tape for my electronic dictionary. The old one no longer sticks. Working on Lesson 12 Anne's Diary, makes me feel really sad. What a horrible thing war is!

Saturday, August 8, 2009 Fair

This morning the dealership manager came for my car's safety checkup. It expires today. A narrow shave. I will have to pay around 140,000 yen for that. Quite a lot! This afternoon I had to go to the hospital. There was a further checkup. Oh'hara Reiko, a famous Japanese actress, died this week, and Sakai Noriko, a well-known singer, is wanted by the police on suspicion of possessing stimulant drugs. Worked a lot on my computer, making a handout and a page of the third-term Reading report.

Friday, August 7, 2009 Fair

Took a brisk morning walk for an hour or so on my own. Read a little and watched the morning Korean drama. At work transcriped the pronunciation of another Reading lesson in katakana. This took me almost all day today. As a result, I got a severe neckache. The fifth floor is as deserted as ever. From tomorrow I will be away from work for ten days.

Thursday, August 6, 2009 Overcast

Took a morning brisk walk for the first time in ten days or so. This time alone. At work prepared all the necessary handouts for the next eight Reading classes. I will make each small sheet right before each Reading class. Did the printing as well. There was a teachers' education session, a lecture on harassment. The lecturer was a lady living in Osaka. She said she does lots of lectures here and there.

Wednesday, August 5, 2009 Overcast

Could do things almost as planned. Made more than one worksheet, more than I had planned, and did some reading. Had an English study meeting with a friend for one and a half hours, too. The fifth floor was deserted except for the English Interview Room and the Career Guidance Room, an air-conditioned room. A full day.

Tuesday, August 4, 2009 Fair and then cloudy.

I may have to reconsider my way of living or thinking because I keep repeating the same kind of mistakes. To err is human, but every time I do that, my heart is filled with self-hatred. At work, made another handout for the second term. I did a little reading as well. I had to work in the air-conditioned room today. Too hot. I felt dizzy.

Monday, August 3, 2009 Cloudy

A Korean study meeting in the afternoon. Then continued to make handouts for the second term. Today I worked for the most part on the second floor. The room is air-conditioned and comfortable, but when I got back on the fifth floor, I really felt the hot weather. I am still in the middle of the 16th episode of the Korean drama "The Painter of the Wind.

Sunday, August 2, 2009 Cloudy

I was at home all day today, watching the Korean drama "The Painter of the Wind" on my computer. The rest of the faimily are playing Dragon Quest \ all day. Like crazy. The kitten is as naughty as ever. Although I apply the eye lotion prescribed by the oththalmologist, my eyes are still somewhat sticky with mucus.

Saturday, August 1, 2009 Cloudy, occaisonally rainy.

Viewed the 7th episode of the Korean drama "Painter of the Wind,"and went to the English conversation classroom in the morning. Ate lunch and took an afternoon nap. Then worked on the Super Crosswod for a couple of hours. Ate supper and played Dragon Quest \ for a while. Today is the day for the PL fireworks display. I can hear the sounds of fireworks.
