-- My Review of "Unplugged" --

I'm basically interested in the series of MTV Unplugged releases. Because it shows performers' great sense of playing acoustic. Accompanied by the Irish Film Orchestra including strings, horns, accordion, organ, percussion and so on, finally, the Corrs appeared on 'MTV Unplugged' on October 5th, 1999. Recorded at Ardmore Studios, Unplugged features two new original songs and three new cover versions that aren't on their first two albums. As it also features their hits from their previous two studio albums, it is indeed a consistently brilliant showcase of their talents. As the tempo has been slightly reduced in some songs, besides, the album shows more melancholy than before. But of course, it is still pop enough. Hence, you could fully appreciate their trademark Celtic-Pop sound and sublime harmonies.

Incidentally, one of the standout tracks is their latest penned song, current single "Radio." It is indeed melancholy but very catchy. And one of the highlights is the cover version of Mary Black's "No Frontiers," a lovely duet performed by Sharon and Caroline, with the simple playing of the piano. But as a matter of course, they don't forget to perform traditional Irish tunes "Toss The Feathers" and "Lough Erin Shore". In fact, tin whistle, violin and bodhran are played so beautifully that they remind me of the Irish environment, actually.

Anyway, each track maintains an extremely high standard of music as well as having a very polished feel to it. As their songs range from simple love-ballads to lilting pop numbers to stunning instrumental pieces, you must be hopelessly addicted to the engaging musical charm of the Corrs once you listen to this album.

So I affirm that this album is indeed a must for every Corrs fans; it's a good introduction to the Corrs for people who yearn for music and melody. Yes, this album is worth your money. Hearing is believing. Let's check it out!
