-- My Review of "Borrowed Heaven" --
Well, to be honest, I was mildly disappointed with this album when I first listened to it. Cos "Borrowed Heaven" basically follows the same formula as its predecessor. You know I was hoping that the Corrs would go back to their trademark Irish/Celtic sound of the "Forgiven, Not Forgotten" era. After listening to this album many times, however, I have noticed that "Borrowed Heaven" is actually a mix of Irish melodies, pop and rock. Most songs still contain more or less the Irish element. Hence I now affirm that "Borrowed Heaven" has the integral Corrs sound though it takes a different direction from their '90s albums. At least I think it is a better album than the last, for you can hear the Irish elements a lot more.
Thus, "Borrowed Heaven" is indeed their most accomplished album to date in that it finds the Corrs reflecting both their growth as songwriters and musicians. Lyrically, it is the most personal Corrs album since their debut. Even if you are initially disappointed in this album, therefore, I think "Borrowed Heaven" will grow on you. Once you've heard it a couple of times, you should be tapping your toes. Hearing is believing. Let's enjoy borrowed heaven to the end!
