VOL.32 Tom Hanks casts a new role in latest film - Los Angeles ( February 7, 2001 ) 杉浦兄弟（姉妹？ おすぎ＝映画評論家、ピーコ＝ファッション評論家）や、ある時期それなりに名前をなしたポップ（or ロック）シンガーを妹に持つクロ（襟川クロ）のような横浜系のコメンテイターが絶賛しそうなTom Hanksが新境地を開拓した映画‘Cast Away'です。 彼らが一番評価するであろうと思われるのは、Tom Hanksの俳優としてのprofessionalな部分や製作者サイドの映画にたいする考え方です。 (In order to show the effects of time and malnutrition on Hanks' character, the film was shot in two parts. In a harrowing and wonderfully executed scene, the camera never leaves Hanks' point-of-view as the aircraft plunges into the ocean. Miraculously, he finds an inflatable raft and pops to the surface as the burning machine sinks under stormy seas. It is a terrifying sequence, nearly worth the price of admission alone. VOL.35 Star of Tomorrow : Leslie Bibb of 'Popular' - California ( February 21, 2001 ) スカイダイビングをすることがどういうことか、わたしは実際にやっている人にその気持ちを聞いたことがあります。「勇気です」アメリカ留学中にやっていたという彼はそれを一言で答えてくれました。 実際誘われてもう少しでやることになっていたのですが、彼がパラセーリングやスカイダイビング関係の会社をやり始めるので忙しくなり、そんな恐ろしい(わたしのような小心者にとっては）ことは結局やらずにすみました。今考えても冷や汗が出るようなことです。 モデルから女優へのステップを着実に歩み大きく飛躍しつつあるLeslie Bibbは、この“勇気”をスカイダイビングだけでなくこれまでの人生にも持ち合わせてきたようです。 Leslie Bibb is a young woman with definite ideas about the rewards of taking risks. So you put yourself out there and when you hear a lot of those 'no's it's hard not to take it personally. I think I'm pretty good at saying, 'It's not me, it's that choice' -- take everything with a grain of salt. VOL.37 Totally combined rock, soul, R & B, by Kina - Detroit / New York ( March 4, 2001 ) GROUPを離れて独立することの大変さと、いまだに濃く残るBlackとしての難しさなどをうかがわせるアメリカ社会。 Singer - KINAが今U.S.A.で爆発的に人気が出てきています。 What do you get when you combine rock, soul, throw in some rhythm and blues, some spunk and spirit, and then top it off with some serious attitude? You get someone called Kina, who's released a debut album of the same name. 自分自身でも Her music cannot be easily described; nor can she. この3年間で Three years ago she was performing with Brownstone, but she wasn't feeling true to herself in the R&B group. After much soul searching, she went off on her own. The next year, Kina was battling poverty and trying to shrug off the naysayers. 今は Now, Kina -- her full name is Kina Cosper -- is on the fast track to stardom. At first glance, it looks like a transport system "The Jetsons" could love. It's an electric car when you need to run short, individual errands. And it becomes part of a highly efficient, non-polluting "train" as it enters an elevated, automated guideway. ヨーロッパ小都市でないかぎり、いろいろな費用の点で無理でしょうが、科学者がこんな夢を追求できるのがDenmarkという国なのでしょうか。 For more than a dozen years, inventor Palle Jensen has been almost evangelical in his belief in this dual mode transportation system. 基本的な構想は Jensen says RUF combines the best of both: the flexibility of a car and the efficiency of a train. したがって "So you have very high capacity in this system.
